ASSIGNMENTS:
EVALUATE YOUR EVALUATION. This will be the first part of your evaluation—to evaluate (you) the evaluator—to look inward and consider your desire(s) for a new church home. What are you looking for and (most importantly) WHY? What is your priority? What’s the non-negotiable(s)? What are things that are flexible for you? Are these things personal-preference or Biblically driven? Don’t skip this part, it is very important to your EXIT forward.
VISIT THE CHURCH’S WEBSITE. It is most likely that your initial investigation into a potential church home will be online, visiting their website and social media pages. So this will be the second part of your evaluation. This Sunday you are visiting Northside Baptist Church in Tifton, GA. Their website is https://www.cbcamericus.org. Take some time (before Sunday) to assess the church’s online presence. First, is their website current (up-to-date)? Does it have clear navigation/content features? Does it quickly provide service times/location? Does it present a clear denomination affiliation and statement of faith? Does it give clear discipleship/service opportunities? What about their social media footprint? Where can you find them (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook)? Are their posts recent and consistent?
CONTACT YOUR FUTURE BCM DIRECTOR. Locate (online) your BCM director at your future school. Contact him by phone call, email, text or message (however you prefer to communicate). (1.) Introduce yourself - “Hey I am _________, and will be starting school there on August ____… (2.) Ask what church(s) he recommends for college students and why. (3.) Inquire about BCM services and activities and how students can become involved. Be prepared to share your findings with the group.
I am praying you have an amazing time together! I love your hearts!
