Montana Mission Meeting

LOCATION: Fellowship Hall, Room F3.

We had a great meeting time together this past week. I so enjoyed hearing your testimonies and rejoice in what God has done/is doing in each of your lives. This coming Wednesday, we will hear the remaining team member testimonies, discuss the fundraiser, and some of our reading assignment.

DON’T WASTE YOUR LIFE
I hope all of you have started Piper’s book Don’t Waste Your Life. I am enjoying rereading this book that inspired my heart years ago. If you have given it a glance, you will notice (at least by the table of contents) that a chapter a week should have you finishing the read by our departure. That is convenient as that is the goal!

Things to look out for in Chapter 1: The initial chapter may feel a little slow to some of you. It is mostly autobiographical, as Piper recounts the early, developmental years of his faith. There are some terms you may be unfamiliar with as well (i.e. existentialism). But don’t miss this (especially as we are sharing testimonies in our meetings and talking about “our story” in Common Ground). Piper is laying the groundwork for how he arrived at a "cross-exalting life." He writes about the challenges that he experienced (coming along in the 60’s culture) and the moments (mononucleosis) and influences (C. S. Lewis) that shaped his spiritual growth. So don’t race through it! Consider what he considers in telling his story. What pressures are you experiencing in your Millennial culture? Who are your influences and inspirations? How has God grown you in difficult trials or seasons? Remember, your story is His story!
